I posted back in December about the Miller vs. Jenkins custody case that involved visitation rights between now-separated same-sex parents. It seems Miller, who at the time was presumed to have taken the child and run, may be in El Salvador.

That poor little girl.

Catholic Charities had been making noises about needing to leave DC if marriage equality went through. Instead, they've decided to stop offering spousal benefits to all employees not already carrying them. That is at least better than pulling up stakes and leaving. I'm disappointed on multiple levels. First that we're even putting people's rights up to a popular vote. I need to remedy the gaps in my Civil Rights Movement history, but seriously, did we do this in the 60s? Because I'm thinking not. I don't understand the 85-page decision, or rather, I can't seem to wade through it all in the few minutes I have before I have to run out the door. But the nutshell version per Love Makes a Family is that the CT Supreme Court has ruled that same sex couples can marry in CT.

Legislators vote to defeat same-sex marriage ban

"A proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage was swiftly defeated today by a joint session of the Legislature by a vote of 45 to 151, eliminating any chance of getting it on the ballot in November 2008. The measure needed at least 50 votes to advance."
